MISSION STATEMENT: We believe that man was made in the image of God, and that each person possesses gifts and talents to be used for the glory of God, which is the key to success and the foundation for a sound education in a secular world.
The purpose of our organization is to help young males that get into trouble, that have discipline problems, or that simply need a mentor to help prevent them from getting into more trouble. Most of the individuals of our target group come from families without a father figure in the home at all. In some cases, there is a father figure, but the proper characteristics and personality traits are not being taught to the young men.
Although the primary purpose of our organization extends to help young men of any race, the underlying target group consists primarily of young black men. We want to concentrate primarily on the young black male as our target group because we believe that this cross section of our society is in dire need of help. However, we extend our assistance and services to young men of any race or from any culture.
The founder of The Laymen Brotherhood 2nd Chance Outreach Center is Rev. Adren Bivins, an ex-wrestler and U.S. Army veteran. His wife, Sylvia, plays an integral part in the organization's day to day operations and was also one of its founders. |
